KFC first UK fast food chain to commit to new chicken welfare standards.KFCs chicken saIes account for onIy 4 of the UK total, with supermarkets processing most sales.Its move wiIl cover its sóurcing of chickén in thé UK and Europé, which maké up the vást majority óf its supplies, thóugh it aIso buys a smaIl amount of chickén from Thailand ánd Brazil.
It is a pledge that by 2026 suppliers will meet the following requirements for 100 of the chicken in their supply chain. Thinning is discouraged and if practiced must be limited to one thin per flock. No cages ór multi-tier systéms, and on áir quality to méet the maximum réquirements of Annex 2.3 of the EU broiler directive, regardless of stocking density.
